Caffeine Killer

Can caffeine make you insane and mentally unstable enough to unknowingly kill someone? The Newport, Kentucky jury had that question to answer when a mans lawyer claimed that too much soda, caffeine-laced diet pills and the energy drink No Fear combined with sleep deprivation meant the man had know idea what he was doing when he killed his wife. According to the Kentucky Enquirer his lawyer will argue that the combination of all that caffeine was the reason for his wife's death. The man will face life in prison if found guilty in the trial after he strangled his wife to death with an extension cord back in 2009. It is not the first caffeine-induced defense that has been heard in court. Last year a man was dropped of his charges after he blamed caffeine for losing control of his car and hitting someone on the Washington State University-Pullman campus. The victim was not killed, but had nerve damage and several broken bones.

  1. This topic is very interesting and leaves a lot of discussion for the people in the government for discussing possible new laws being made and how to interpret this encounter in the name of the law. I didn't know caffeine could be that harmful or be so serious and needing to use it with caution sometimes. Also I didn't know it could become a cause of fatality, making it somewhat similar to alchol in a lesser offense.
